This is a transmission theory of radio. BVA does not just play songs. It receives signals. Something is out there, something is transmitting, and the valley is tuned to the right frequency.

Transmission 01: Water Over Old Stones

Three songs into the first broadcast, and something is clearly arriving from somewhere else. Jefferson Airplane asks if we've seen the saucers. Jim Sullivan sings about UFOs like someone who has been inside one: a Los Angeles psych-folk singer who would soon vanish in the New Mexico desert, his car found abandoned with his wallet, his guitar, and a box of unsold albums inside. Then Parliament lands the mothership: Black people in outer space as a radical reclamation of future narratives.

The mothership connection is the most literal version of the BVA thesis: the valley receives. Jim Sullivan walked into the desert and never came back. The mothership signal is also a disappearance signal.
