Balm Valley is a real place near Boone, North Carolina, Beach Mountain in the distance, the creek running through rhododendron. It's also a frequency. A balm is something that soothes, that heals. The valley is a receiver: a place where signals from around the world are gathered and given space to resonate. BVA doesn't broadcast from the Balm Valley so much as it broadcasts the Balm Valley, a way of listening that treats every signal as worthy of attention.

The valley travels. A Balm-bred drummer turned tourist guide reports from the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam, and the broadcast reaches half a world away. The creek becomes a canal becomes a river. The valley is no longer just a receiver; it is also a transmitter, sending its own voice out and receiving the delta back. Balm and Saigon, trading the signal.
